Truecaller reaches 500 million monthly active users worldwide
Truecaller surpasses 500 million monthly users globally, strengthening its position as a leading caller ID and spam-blocking app.
Sweden-based caller identification platform Truecaller announced on Tuesday that it has reached a major milestone of 500 million monthly active users worldwide. The company also revealed that it has now exceeded 150 million users outside of India, which remains its largest market with more than 350 million monthly users.
According to the company, it added approximately 50 million new users in 2025 alone, and its overall user base has doubled over the past five years. Earlier, in April 2025, Truecaller reported having more than 450 million users. In addition to its free user base, the company noted that over 4 million people are currently subscribed to its premium plans.
“More and more people need help navigating spam, scams, and unwanted communication every day,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala in a statement. “Reaching 500 million users shows the scale of that need, and the trust people place in Truecaller to help make communication safer.”
“Our commitment remains focused on continuously strengthening Truecaller with smarter technology and new capabilities that protect users before, during, and after every call or message. Ultimately, we aim to build a safer, more trusted communication ecosystem for everyone. We now have our sights set on the next milestone: 1 billion users,” he added.
In recent years, Truecaller has been working to expand its functionality beyond its core caller identification service. The company recently introduced a feature that allows a designated person to act as an administrator within a family group, enabling them to block suspicious calls on behalf of other users to help prevent scams.
Additionally, the company has been experimenting with artificial intelligence to improve call screening and response capabilities. Last month, Truecaller said it was testing a feature that uses AI to monitor calls that have been disconnected when it detects certain scam-related keywords. One example is “digital arrest,” a tactic in which fraudsters impersonate law enforcement officials to extract sensitive information or money from victims.
Despite its growth, Truecaller is facing increasing competition in India from the implementation of the Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system. This system displays the caller’s name as registered with telecom operators, potentially reducing reliance on third-party caller identification apps in the country.
