TypeSafe AI Raises $870 Million at $7.5 Billion Valuation After Jev Launch
TypeSafe AI raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation weeks after launching Jev, its non-text AI model built to make decisions for software automation.
TypeSafe AI has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation, just weeks after launching Jev, an artificial intelligence model designed for software automation rather than text generation. Andreessen Horowitz led the funding round, with participation from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC, according to the company’s funding announcement.
Jev launched on September 15 and quickly attracted enterprise attention. TypeSafe claims approximately one-third of Fortune 500 companies are already using the model, although that adoption figure has not been independently verified.
How Jev Differs From Traditional AI Models
Jev uses a transformer architecture but operates differently from conventional large language models. Instead of generating text or code, it produces probabilities that TypeSafe describes as “calibrated decisions,” enabling software systems to automate decision-making.
The company claims Jev processes tasks significantly faster while consuming substantially fewer tokens than traditional language models. TypeSafe positions these efficiency advantages as central to its enterprise automation approach.
Co-founder Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, has argued that AI systems built around human language are not necessarily suited to computer automation. His company aims to address that limitation through models designed specifically for machine-driven decisions.
Founded in 2024, TypeSafe AI was established by Almeida, former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng and engineer and entrepreneur Erik Gafni. The $870 million investment follows Jev’s rapid emergence as an alternative to language-based AI systems for enterprise automation.
