AI-focused legal startup Norm announced on Tuesday that it has secured $120 million in a Series C funding round led by Khosla Ventures, valuing the nearly three-year-old company at $1.2 billion.

Norm has developed what it describes as an AI-native law firm, Norm Law. This legal practice combines the company’s proprietary AI agents with human attorneys who oversee and supervise their work. Alongside delivering legal services to enterprise customers, the startup is developing AI agents that can monitor and supervise other AI agents as they perform legal and operational tasks.

Unlike the traditional legal industry, where firms generally bill clients by the hour, Norm follows an outcome-based pricing model, charging clients according to the results it delivers rather than the time spent on a matter.

The company is part of a rapidly growing wave of legal AI startups that have emerged over the past few years. Firms including Harvey and Legora are similarly focused on using artificial intelligence to automate time-consuming legal work and improve efficiency across the profession.

In addition to Khosla Ventures, Norm’s latest funding round attracted investments from Bain, Craft Ventures, Coatue, Vanguard, New York Life, TIAA, Tony James—the former president and chief operating officer of Blackstone—Jeff Hammes, the former chairman of Kirkland & Ellis, and Fenwick LLP.

Norm said the newly raised capital will be used to continue expanding its AI platform, accelerate product development, and recruit additional attorneys to support the company’s growing legal operations.

With this latest investment, Norm has now raised more than $260 million in total funding since its launch.
