Nous Research raises $90 million at a $1.5 billion valuation to expand its open-source Hermes AI agent into business workflows with privacy-focused controls.
Nous Research has secured $90 million in Series B funding at a $1.5 billion valuation to expand its open-source Hermes AI agent into business applications. The round brings its total funding to $158 million.
Robot Ventures led the investment, joined by Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung and 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner.
Nous Research Develops Hermes for Businesses
The three-year-old Nous Research is developing Hermes for Businesses, which lets companies customise AI agents for multistep tasks while keeping their data private. Hermes supports multiple AI models and retains information across sessions.
In its funding announcement, Nous said the investment would support the new offering. Nous has not disclosed pricing or a release schedule.
Hermes Agent Surpasses 24 Million Clones
Hermes Agent has gained traction among developers and individual users. Nous estimates that the open-source software has been cloned more than 24 million times and accounts for approximately 2.5% of global AI token usage.
Those figures are company estimates, not independently verified measurements. Hermes lets users choose where the agent runs and which models it uses, while retaining project information and developing reusable skills across sessions.
Revenue Reaches $36 Million Annualised
Nous Research reached approximately $36 million in annualised revenue by mid-September 2026, The Wall Street Journal reported. The company expects to surpass $100 million before the end of the year, although that figure remains a projection.
The funding will support Hermes’ expansion into business applications while Nous continues developing its open-source software.
