Nscale Secures $3.36B in Financing Ahead of Planned U.S. IPO
British AI neocloud Nscale has secured $3.36 billion in convertible financing as it prepares for a U.S. IPO that could value the company at $35 billion.
British AI infrastructure company Nscale has secured $3.36 billion in convertible financing ahead of a planned U.S. IPO later this year, highlighting the enormous capital demands of building AI data centres.
The financing, announced Friday, is led by hedge fund Third Point. Nscale will receive $2.36 billion immediately, while existing investor Nvidia will provide another $1 billion in mid-November.
The investment is structured as convertible notes that will convert into equity when Nscale completes its IPO.
Nscale targets a major U.S. listing
Nscale filed its IPO paperwork last week. The Financial Times reported that the company is expected to seek a valuation of about $35 billion on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company is also seeking to raise about $3 billion through the offering, Bloomberg reported.
Nscale was spun out of Australian cryptocurrency mining company Arkon Energy two years ago. Since then, it has amassed more than $103 billion in contracts, according to its IPO filing.
The company is developing large AI data centre campuses in locations including Norway and West Virginia. The latest financing gives Nscale additional capital for that expansion as it prepares to enter the public markets.
