SeatGeek and Spotify team up to offer concert ticket sales inside the music platform
SeatGeek and Spotify partner to let fans buy concert tickets directly in the Spotify app, connecting music discovery with seamless live-event ticket sales.
SeatGeek announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Spotify on a new integration that gives Spotify users a smoother way to buy concert tickets without leaving the music app.
With the update, Spotify listeners who visit an artist’s page or check upcoming tour dates will now see ticket links powered by SeatGeek for shows at participating venues, creating a more streamlined path from discovery to purchase.
For now, the integration is limited to a select set of venues where SeatGeek is the primary ticket seller. Specifically, it includes SeatGeek’s 15 major venue partners in the U.S., such as State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Nissan Stadium in Nashville, and AT&T Stadium in Arlington. While SeatGeek is also well known in the secondary ticketing market, this Spotify integration applies only to locations where SeatGeek operates as the main ticketing platform.
The placement inside Spotify is a strategic win for SeatGeek. By appearing directly within the Spotify app, SeatGeek can reach millions of active music fans when they’re looking up artists and concerts, potentially turning more listeners into ticket buyers.
Even with its growth, SeatGeek still faces intense competition from major ticketing players like Ticketmaster and AXS.
Those rivals control a larger share of the ticketing market thanks to long-standing relationships with top venues and event organisers. Ticketmaster alone is estimated to service 53 of the top 68 arenas in the U.S. One example often cited is Barclays Centre: after switching from Ticketmaster to SeatGeek in 2021, the venue reversed the move less than a year into a seven-year agreement. It ended the partnership to return to Ticketmaster.
The deal also arrives after Spotify said it has helped artists generate more than $1 billion in ticket sales by connecting fans with live events through its ticketing partners. Spotify works with more than 45 ticketing partners, including Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventbrite, DICE, and Bandsintown. Spotify also previously tested direct ticket sales in 2022.
This isn’t the first time SeatGeek has integrated ticket buying into a popular consumer app. In 2018, SeatGeek partnered with Snapchat, enabling users to purchase tickets directly inside the social platform.
Separately, Spotify held its latest earnings call last week, when the company reported more than 750 million monthly users and 290 million paid subscribers. Spotify said it expects those numbers to increase to 759 million monthly users and 293 million paid subscribers in the current quarter, underscoring its continued push toward profitability.
