Amazon expands its global logistics network for businesses worldwide

Amazon announced on Monday that it is opening its global logistics network to businesses worldwide. The new offering, called Amazon Supply Chain Services, positions the company in direct competition with established logistics providers such as UPS and FedEx.

The service provides access to Amazon's extensive capabilities across freight transportation, distribution, fulfilment, and parcel delivery, making them available to organisations of all sizes. According to the company, the platform is designed to support a wide range of industries, including healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, and retail.

With this move, Amazon is expanding beyond its traditional role of supporting third-party sellers on its marketplace. Instead, it is transforming its internal logistics infrastructure into a standalone service available to any business, creating a new growth opportunity within its e-commerce division.

"Amazon's bringing the infrastructure, intelligence, and scale of its supply chain services—proven over decades—to businesses everywhere, much like Amazon Web Services did for cloud computing," said Per Larsen, vice president of Amazon Supply Chain Services, in a company blog post.

Amazon also noted that several major companies have already adopted the service, including Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End, and American Eagle Outfitters.
