xAI Grok Lawsuit Expands With New Childhood Photo Abuse Allegations
The xAI Grok lawsuit has expanded after a woman alleged the chatbot was used to create thousands of explicit images from a childhood photo taken at age 11.
A woman has joined a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI, alleging that its Grok chatbot was used to manipulate a childhood photograph of her into thousands of inappropriate AI-generated images.
The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe 4, joined a case originally filed by three Tennessee teenagers. The lawsuit accuses xAI of failing to put adequate safeguards in place to prevent Grok from being misused to create harmful images involving real people, including minors.
New allegations added to Grok lawsuit.
According to The Washington Post, Jane Doe 4 alleges that her stepfather used a photograph taken when she was 11 to generate more than 7,000 manipulated images. She said the material was later discovered during a law enforcement investigation.
The allegations have not been proven in court, andxAI’ss legal responsibility has not been determined.
The case focuses on AI safety safeguards.
The original plaintiffs are seeking class-action status and argue that stronger protections could have limited the misuse of Grok’s image-generation tools.
The lawsuit adds to scrutiny surrounding safeguards for generative AI systems that can modify photographs of real people. The court will determine whether the plaintiffs’ claims against xAI can proceed.
