Meta Launches Enterprise AI Platform and Hires MongoDB CEO CJ Desai to Lead It

Meta has launched Meta Enterprise Platform, a new initiative designed to bring more of its AI technology to businesses, developers, and corporate customers.

The company has hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, MongoDB’s CEO, to lead the initiative. Meta said the platform will bring together technologies including Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code and other AI products for enterprise use.

The launch expands Meta’s AI strategy beyond consumer-facing products. Muse, the company’s personal AI assistant, can perform tasks such as sending emails and booking travel. At the same time, the new enterprise initiative focuses on packaging Meta’s broader AI stack for organisations.

Meta Targets Business Adoption of Its AI Stack

Desai said AI will reshape how companies innovate, grow, serve customers and manage operations. He said Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on turning the company’s models and AI agents into products and services that businesses can deploy directly.

The move also gives Meta another path to commercialise the significant investment it is making in AI infrastructure, models and agent technology.

MongoDB Names Interim CEO After Desai’s Departure

Desai’s departure immediately affected MongoDB, whose shares fell more than 17% after the announcement.

MongoDB appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive while its board begins a search for a permanent replacement. Ittycheria previously served as MongoDB’s CEO.

Meta’s decision to bring in an experienced enterprise software executive signals the company’s intent to build a more substantial business around its AI products as it expands from consumer assistants into enterprise deployments.
