Tinder Launches Group Hangouts Feature to Make Dating More Social

Tinder is introducing a new feature called Group Hangouts that allows friends to discover, match, and make plans with other groups through shared activities.

The update reflects a broader shift among dating apps toward more social experiences, as younger users increasingly look for ways to connect beyond traditional one-on-one matching.

Tinder Expands Group-Based Dating

With Group Hangouts, users can create a group by selecting an activity and inviting at least two friends. Once the group has three or more members, it can appear in Tinder’s main card stack where other groups can discover it.

Groups can include up to 15 people. Users can like other groups, and if at least one person from each group shows interest, everyone can join a shared chat to make plans together.

Tinder is also adding controls that allow members to leave conversations without leaving their friend group and report or block other participants if needed.

Moving Dating Toward Real-World Experiences

Group Hangouts builds on Tinder’s earlier group-focused features, including Double Date, which allowed users to pair with a friend and browse other pairs. The new feature expands that idea into larger social gatherings.

The company has also been adding more offline experiences through local events and activities, while other dating platforms are exploring similar group-based approaches.

The feature is rolling out gradually in the U.S. and select markets, with more regions expected to follow.
