Apple Launches New Mac Mini With M6 Chip Starting at $899

Apple has introduced a new Mac Mini lineup powered by its latest M-series processors, including the new M6 and M5 Pro chips, bringing improved performance, faster graphics, and upgraded AI capabilities to the company’s compact desktop computer line.

The new Mac Mini starts at $899 for the base M6 model, which includes 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Apple said the updated Mac Mini delivers major improvements in processing, graphics, and AI performance compared with previous models. The device is available for preorder and will begin shipping on September 22.

New Mac Mini models bring M6 and M5 Pro chips.

The M6 Mac Mini features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, compared with the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU configuration available on the previous M4 model. Apple said the new version provides four times better AI performance, while storage and graphics performance are twice as fast.

Apple is also offering a higher-end Mac Mini configuration with the M5 Pro chip. This model starts at $1,699 with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The M5 Pro version includes a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU by default, with upgrade options up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU.

Mac Mini adds faster connectivity and AI features.

Both new Mac Mini models support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a 2.5GB Ethernet port. Users can also upgrade to a 10GB Ethernet connection option.

The new computers will ship with macOS 27 and Apple’s Siri AI features starting September 22.

The Mac Mini has gained popularity among technology enthusiasts using compact desktop systems for local AI applications. Demand for previous models increased earlier this year, with some units appearing on resale platforms at higher prices.

Apple expands desktop lineup with new Mac Studio models

Alongside the Mac Mini update, Apple also introduced new Mac Studio models powered by the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

The M5 Max Mac Studio starts at $2,499 and includes 36GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage. The M5 Ultra model starts at $5,499 with 96GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage.

Earlier this year, Apple discontinued the previous entry-level Mac Mini model that started at $599 with 256GB of storage. The company continued to offer a 512GB M4 version at $799 before introducing the new M6-powered lineup.
