Google Launches Fitbit Air in India With Screen-Free Health Tracking
Google has launched Fitbit Air in India, a screen-free fitness tracker with advanced health-monitoring features and a premium price tag.
Google has launched the screen-free Fitbit Air fitness tracker in India, bringing continuous health monitoring features to the country’s growing wearable technology market.
The device is priced at ₹13,999 in India, positioning it as a premium fitness tracker compared with its $99 price in the United States.
Fitbit Air Focuses on Screen-Free Health Tracking
Unveiled earlier this year, Fitbit Air has no display. It focuses on health-tracking features, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring, heart rhythm monitoring with atrial fibrillation alerts, blood oxygen levels, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and sleep tracking.
The screen-free design follows a growing trend among users looking for distraction-free health devices. Similar products include screen-free wearables from companies such as Garmin and other fitness technology brands.
Growing Competition in Screen-Free Wearables
The category has also attracted Indian brands, including Noise, which have introduced more affordable health-tracking devices targeting price-conscious consumers.
According to IDC’s wearable market research, screen-free trackers are developing a niche even as overall wristband shipments face pressure.
In India, screen-free wearables currently represent a smaller market segment. Research from Counterpoint Research, reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, found that the country accounts for around 5% of the global screenless wearable market.
Availability in India
Fitbit Air is available through the Google Store and retail partners including Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales from October 2.
Google is also offering a three-month Google Health Premium membership with the purchase of the new fitness tracker.
