Apple’s Siri revamp reportedly delayed… again
Apple’s planned Siri revamp has reportedly been delayed once more, raising questions about the company’s AI roadmap and the future of its voice assistant strategy.
Apple has been signalling a major overhaul of Siri ever since it introduced Apple Intelligence in 2024. The company positioned the update as a significant leap forward, promising a smarter, more advanced, AI-driven version of its long-standing digital assistant. However, roughly a year and a half later, the rollout timeline remains fluid. A new report fromBloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests users may have to wait even longer for the revamped experience to arrive.
The enhanced Siri was previously expected to debut alongside the iOS 26.4 update scheduled for March. According to the report, Apple is planning a more gradual rollout. Some features may not appear until the May iOS update, while others could be postponed until iOS 27, which is anticipated in September. The delay reportedly stems from issues uncovered during internal testing, forcing Apple to push the timeline back yet again.
The anticipated changes are said to transform Siri into something closer to the large language model-powered chatbots that have become increasingly prominent across the tech industry. Instead of launching separate apps such as ChatGPT or Claude on an iPhone or Mac, users would interact directly with Siri, which is rumoured to be powered by Google Gemini under the hood.
As Apple works through technical hurdles and testing challenges, the next chapter for Siri appears to be arriving more slowly than initially expected. For the teams responsible for bringing the upgraded assistant to life, the extended development cycle has certainly tested patience — but the company continues to position the revamp as a key component of its broader AI strategy.
