Based Apparel Website Taken Offline Following Alleged Malware Hack Reports
The website of Based Apparel, a clothing brand linked to FBI Director Kash Patel, was taken offline after reports claimed hackers compromised the platform and attempted to distribute malware to visitors. Learn what happened and the latest details.
The merchandise website linked to Kash Patel was taken offline on Friday after reports suggested the site may have been compromised by hackers attempting to distribute malware to visitors. Straight Arrow News first reported the issue.
At the time of writing, Based Apparel's website remains unavailable. Concerns emerged after an X user known as Debbie claimed the site contained an infostealer, a type of malware designed to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and login credentials. A cybersecurity researcher later analysed the suspected malware.
Based Apparel has not publicly commented on the reports and could not be reached for clarification. It remains unclear how long the alleged malware may have been active or whether any customer information was affected.
The incident adds to a challenging week for security-related issues involving MAGA-associated businesses. Earlier on Friday, Trump Mobile confirmed that customer information had been exposed online, including names, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and order identifiers.
That disclosure came after a researcher alerted YouTubers Coffeezilla and penguinz0 that personal information linked to their Trump Mobile purchases was publicly accessible online.
Although there is no indication that the two incidents are connected, both have raised concerns about cybersecurity and data protection practices. Investigations into the reported malware activity and the Trump Mobile data exposure are continuing.
