Meta’s Muse AI App Surpasses ChatGPT’s Early Mobile Growth in U.S. and Canada

Meta’s Muse AI app is showing stronger early adoption than ChatGPT’s mobile launch in the U.S. and Canada, according to Apptopia estimates. The market intelligence company found that Muse recorded more downloads and daily active users in its first 12 days than ChatGPT did during the same period after its mobile debut.

Apptopia compared iOS data from the U.S. and Canada to better compare the two apps. In that period, Muse reached 1.8 million downloads, while ChatGPT recorded 1.3 million downloads.

Muse Gains Early Momentum

Globally, Muse reached 2.8 million installs in its first 12 days, according to Apptopia’s estimates. The app also moved from No. 2 to No. 1 overall on the U.S. App Store, according to reports from Business Insider and analysis from Appfigures.

Apptopia estimates that Muse had 642,000 daily active users in the U.S., compared with 231,000 for ChatGPT at the same stage after launch. Even when comparing only iOS users, Muse remained ahead with 359,000 daily active users.

Meta’s Advantage Through Its Ecosystem

While Apptopia data is based on third-party estimates rather than Meta’s internal numbers, the figures suggest Muse has gained significant early attention. Meta has previously used its large social platforms to promote new products, including Threads, which benefited from integration with Instagram and Facebook.

Muse may receive similar exposure because it connects with Meta’s existing platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Apptopia estimates that more than 95% of Muse users are also Facebook users, while 63% use Instagram.

Meta has not publicly released official adoption numbers for Muse. The company’s early performance will depend on whether it can maintain user growth beyond its initial launch period.
