Nothing opens its first retail store in India
Nothing has opened its first exclusive retail store in India, expanding its offline presence as demand for its smartphones and audio products grows.
Nothing, the consumer hardware company backed by Tiger Global, is opening its first retail store in India, the company’s largest market. The new store is located in Bengaluru, where Nothing said a significant portion of its user base is based.
The company said the two-story retail space will showcase Nothing’s devices along with other projects it is working on. Visitors can purchase hardware and branded merchandise, and the store will also offer customisation for select items.
“We wanted to create a fun space,” co-founder and CEO Carl Pei said. “It’s inspired by all the parts that are related to the brand. For instance, at a factory, if you buy a product, there’s a production line where the product comes out. We also show machines where phones undergo testing, suchas USB port and water-resistance testing. So we just wanted to bring that world together.”
The new store will carry products from both Nothing and CMF, the company’s lower-cost brand that it spun off last year. CMF is headquartered in India and operates through a joint venture with the local ODM (original design manufacturer), Optiemus.
Pei said the two brands are differentiated both by the products and price ranges they offer, as well as the audiences they are designed to reach.
“Nothing is more niche with a higher price. CMF is more [targeted toward] mass [market]. You know it’s mass, but it’s not just off-the-shelf rebrand products that usually appear in this price point. They are also products that we put a lot of care into,” he said.
India has been Nothing’s strongest market. The research firm IDC said last year that Nothing holds more than 2% of the smartphone market share in India. IDC also said Nothing was the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the country in the second quarter of 2025, with shipments rising 85% year over year.
No one is alone in building high-profile retail stores in India. Other hardware makers have been expanding their physical footprints as well. Apple, for example, is expected to open its sixth store in the country this month, located in Borivali, a suburb of Mumbai.
This is Nothing’s first retail store outside London, where the company is headquartered. Nothing was said about plans to open two additional stores in Tokyo and New York, though it did not share timelines for those openings.
Nothing raised $200 million in Series C funding last year at a $1.3 billion valuation. The round was led by Tiger Global and included investors such as GV, Highland Europe, EQT, Latitude, I2BF, and Tapestry. In total, Nothing has raised $450 million to date.
