Rivian Confirms First R2 Electric SUV Deliveries Starting June 9
Rivian will begin delivering its highly anticipated R2 electric SUV on June 9, with customer order invitations and demo drives launching the same day. The R2 marks Rivian’s move into the affordable EV market with competitive pricing, advanced technology, and extended driving range.
Rivian has confirmed that the first customer deliveries of its new R2 electric SUV will begin on June 9. The R2 is designed to be a more affordable option than Rivian’s current R1 lineup and is expected to help the company reach a broader market.
The SUV will initially launch with a starting price of just under $60,000. Rivian also plans to introduce a standard version priced at $48,490 in 2027, while an even lower-cost model starting around $45,000 is expected later next year.
CEO RJ Scaringe has described the R2 as one of the most important products in Rivian’s history. The company aims to deliver up to 25,000 R2 vehicles by the end of the year and hopes the model, alongside the upcoming R3, will play a major role in achieving profitability for the first time since Rivian was founded in 2009.
