Ultra-Thin Under-Pillow Speaker Makes Bedtime Audio More Comfortable Than Earbuds
Discover how a thin under-pillow speaker delivers private audio for sleep, meditation, audiobooks, and relaxation without the discomfort of wearing earbuds in bed.
For people who struggle with insomnia, falling asleep often becomes easier when there is something in the background to focus on, whether it’s a podcast, calming rain sounds, or long-form videos. However, sleeping with earbuds can be uncomfortable, and playing audio through speakers may not be practical when sharing a room with someone else.
That is where the new Peace Duo Under-Pillow Speaker from Jabees aims to help.
Introduced last month, the ultra-thin device uses bone-conduction technology, which delivers sound through vibrations that travel through the skull directly to the inner ear. When placed beneath a pillow, the speaker lets users listen to audio privately without headphones or disturbing nearby others.
During testing, the Peace Duo’s slim design made it almost unnoticeable under a pillow. The device comes with a microSD card preloaded with four hours of sleep-focused audio, including gentle ocean waves, light rainfall, rain accompanied by thunder, and soft wind sounds. For users who prefer their own content, the speaker also supports Bluetooth connectivity, enabling direct audio streaming from a smartphone.
Battery performance is another notable feature. According to the company, a single charge can power up to 10 nights of one-hour listening sessions, reducing the need for frequent charging. The speaker also folds for storage and includes a magnetic fabric travel case.
One limitation is compatibility with thicker memory foam pillows. While standard cotton pillows allow sound to travel clearly, some dense memory foam designs may reduce audio quality. Jabees says thinner memory foam pillows should still work effectively.
Priced at $59.99, the Peace Duo is available in Sunrise Yellow and Mist Green. Users can also customise the magnetic snap-on frame with personal images and names, making it a potential gift option for students, family members, or anyone looking for a simple sleep aid.
While the Peace Duo is not a cure for insomnia, it offers a practical and discreet way to enjoy audio at bedtime, providing a potentially affordable solution for those seeking a better night’s sleep.
