Amazon has introduced three Android-powered Alexa tablets with built-in Alexa+ intelligence and full access to the Google Play Store. The lineup includes the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet 8, with prices starting at $229.99 and sales beginning October 14.

Unlike Amazon’s existing Fire tablets, which run Fire OS and use the Amazon Appstore, the new devices are a separate product line with redesigned hardware and a different operating system. Google Play access lets users install apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Gmail, and Google Docs directly.

Alexa Tablet 12 Pro Starts at $499.99

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro features a 12-inch display with 280 pixels per inch, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Its aluminium body measures 6.5 mm thick, with standard and anti-glare Nanomatte display options.

Amazon claims the tablet delivers nearly three times the processing performance and nine times the graphics performance of its previous tablets. It also includes Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi-Fi 6E and up to 16 hours of video playback.

The standard model starts at $499.99, while the Nanomatte version costs $549.99. Amazon also introduced a Pro Pen and detachable Pro Keyboard for writing, drawing and multitasking.

Alexa Tablet 11 and Tablet 8 Offer Lower-Cost Options

The Alexa Tablet 11 starts at $329.99 and features an 11-inch 2.5K display, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It includes dual Dolby Atmos speakers, up to 15 hours of video playback, and colour options in Graphite, Amethyst, and Matcha.

The smaller Alexa Tablet 8 starts at $229.99, with an 8.7-inch display and a 329-gram aluminium body. Designed for portability, it comes in Graphite, Rosette and Teal.

Alexa+ Adds On-Screen Intelligence and Smart Home Controls

All three tablets include Alexa+ integration, letting users ask questions, manage smart home devices, and get personalised assistance through voice commands or the Ask Alexa button.

A feature called On-Screen Intelligence lets Alexa respond to information displayed on the tablet. For example, users browsing hiking trails can ask the assistant to compare options based on their preferences.

Amazon has also redesigned the Kindle reading experience. Opening the Kindle app silences notifications and reduces blue light, and the company claims battery life of up to 20 hours under its stated reading conditions.

Amazon Introduces New Kids Tablets

Amazon separately announced new Kids Tablets in 8.7-inch and 11-inch sizes. The bundles include a protective case and one year of Amazon Kids+, which provides access to age-appropriate books, games, videos, and apps.

Versions for children ages 3 and older feature soft bumper cases, while models for ages 6 and older use slimmer protective cases with kickstands. The tablets also offer parental controls and managed access to Google Play.

Amazon Alexa Tablets Release Date and Availability

The new Alexa tablets and Kids Tablets go on sale October 14, 2026, in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Availability expands to the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain on October 19, while the Kids Tablets also launch in Japan on October 14.

Customers can buy the devices on Amazon and from participating retailers. The company has also provided additional product listings ahead of their release.
