Apple has introduced a new $299 Apple TV 4K with an A19 chip, upgraded Siri AI and built-in microphones for hands-free voice commands. The streaming device offers improved content discovery, expanded HomePod audio support, and a remote that makes a sound when misplaced.

The update is Apple’s first major Apple TV 4K hardware refresh since 2022. Preorders opened October 13, with availability beginning November 13, 2026.

Hands-Free Siri AI and Smarter Content Search

The new Apple TV 4K features three far-field microphones, letting users control the device with Siri without holding the remote or connecting a HomePod. The A19 chip supports the upgraded assistant’s AI capabilities and more conversational interactions.

Viewers can ask Siri questions such as which Apple TV shows won Emmy Awards this year or where the series “Pluribus” was filmed. The assistant can also help users discover content through natural-language searches, reducing the need to browse manually.

Apple’s improvements come as Amazon and Google introduce AI-powered features to help viewers find movies and TV shows. Personalised recommendations and conversational search are becoming increasingly important features of streaming platforms.

Improved Remote and HomePod Surround Sound

Apple added a small speaker to the Siri Remote, letting it play an audible alert when misplaced. The improvement builds on the remote-finding feature introduced in 2023, which relied on proximity guidance displayed on an iPhone.

The new streaming box also supports a four-speaker surround sound setup using compatible HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers. This expands Apple’s home theatre options without requiring a separate audio system.

The launch follows delays in Apple’s smart home hardware plans. Bloomberg reported that Apple’s rollout of upgraded Siri AI affected the timing of new home devices, including the Apple TV refresh.

The new Apple TV 4K is available for preorder at $299 and will reach customers on November 13, alongside Apple’s broader smart home product expansion.
