Apple Unveils Home Collection With Smart Lock, Video Doorbell and Security Cameras
Apple unveils Home Collection smart locks, video doorbells, thermostats and cameras built with LG and Schneider Electric, with products arriving in December.
Apple has introduced its Home Collection, a lineup of smart home accessories that includes a smart deadbolt lock, video doorbell, thermostats, temperature sensors and security cameras. The products expand Apple’s presence in connected home security and automation, bringing it into closer competition with Amazon Ring and Google Nest.
Developed in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the Apple Home Collection integrates with the company’s Home app and new HomeView smart display. Products will begin arriving in December 2026, with selected accessories following in early 2027.
Apple’s Smart Lock and Video Doorbell
One of the main products is LG’s $349.95 Smart Deadbolt Lock, which uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect when an authorised user approaches. The lock can automatically unlock when someone carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch reaches the door, eliminating the need for a physical key or manual app use.
The lock also supports PIN access, guest permissions and notifications when a door is opened or tampered with. Its core unlocking functions can operate without an internet connection.
LG’s wired video doorbell starts at $249.95 and includes two cameras to monitor visitors and packages. When someone rings the bell, users receive notifications on their iPhone or iPad, while a chime can sound through HomeView, HomePod or HomePod mini.
Security Cameras, Thermostats and Home Integration
The collection includes indoor and outdoor security cameras, along with a floodlight camera starting at $399.95. The cameras support motion detection, intelligent alerts, and video monitoring, and compatible iCloud+ subscriptions provide access to recorded events.
LG and Schneider Electric are also introducing smart thermostats starting at $199.95, alongside temperature and humidity sensors starting at $39.95. These devices can monitor conditions across different rooms and help automatically adjust heating and cooling through Apple’s Home app.
Apple says the accessories support streamlined setup using an iPhone and can be controlled through Siri or the Home app without requiring separate manufacturer accounts. Home data is protected with end-to-end encryption, including supported camera recordings.
The launch represents a broader smart home strategy for Apple, combining connected accessories with HomeView and its existing HomePod and Apple TV devices. Rather than requiring customers to manage several independent systems, Apple is bringing security, access and climate controls together within its Home ecosystem.
