Flai Raises $27M as AI Dealership Platform Books 50,000 Appointments a Month
Flai raised $27 million in Series A funding as its AI dealership platform now books 50,000 sales and service appointments each month across U.S. dealers.
Flai has raised $27 million in Series A funding as its artificial intelligence platform books about 50,000 sales and service appointments each month for U.S. auto dealerships. The company says its revenue has increased 20-fold over the past year as dealers use the software for customer calls, messages, outbound campaigns and appointment scheduling.
Automation-focused investor Base10 Partners led the round, with participation from Friedkin Group, Findlay Automotive, Toyota’s venture arm, Y Combinator and First Round Capital. Flai said the financing will support development of its broader AI-powered customer management platform for automotive retailers.
Flai moves beyond answering dealership calls
Flai began with software designed to help dealerships manage phone calls, emails and text messages. CEO Ari Polakof said the system now handles customer engagement, follow-ups, outbound campaigns and scheduling while alerting dealership leadership when an interaction requires attention.
The company works with more than 10 of the 50 largest dealership groups in the United States, according to Flai. Its AI operates across both vehicle sales and service departments, allowing dealerships to manage several stages of customer communication through the platform.
Polakof said Flai is intended to function as AI-powered customer relationship management software rather than simply an automated phone system. The platform can track follow-up obligations and flag conversations that dealership staff may need to review.
Dealership deployments can span sales and service
Earlier this year, Flai deployed its software at a luxury dealership in Puerto Rico where customers frequently switch between English and Spanish during conversations. The rollout began with inbound service calls before extending into vehicle sales, according to co-founder Juan Alzugaray.
The dealership group later deployed Flai across all eight of its stores. Flai’s customer case studies also describe dealers using the platform to respond more quickly to inquiries and manage customer interactions across their operations.
Flai emphasises fast deployment and support
Polakof said referrals between dealers have become an important source of new business. He also pointed to implementation speed and customer support as areas where the company is trying to distinguish itself from other automotive software vendors.
Flai says its software can be operational about 10 days after a dealership signs a contract. Polakof has also instructed the company’s roughly 40 employees to respond to customer requests within 20 minutes at most.
He said that approach is intended to address frustration among dealerships that have experienced declining vendor responsiveness after signing software contracts. Flai is trying to maintain close support while automating more dealership workflows.
$27 million round backs a broader automotive AI platform
Flai detailed its $27 million Series A as it develops beyond communications automation into a more comprehensive dealership platform. The company argues that software designed specifically around automotive retail workflows gives it an advantage over general-purpose AI products aimed at businesses across many industries.
Polakof said that specialisation comes from focusing closely on dealership processes and requirements. Flai is betting that its industry knowledge, implementation model and customer support will help differentiate the platform as more companies introduce AI tools for business communications and automation.
One account remains unusually difficult for Polakof to win: his own local dealership. He said he continues trying to bring the dealer onto Flai’s platform and hopes to convert it into a customer next year.
