Tesla Delays Roadster 2 Reveal to October 15 Due to Severe Weather

Tesla has postponed the reveal of its redesigned second-generation Roadster from October 1 to October 15 because of severe weather forecast for Waco, Texas.

The company said the event must be held outdoors and that weather conditions made the original date unsuitable.

“We’ve been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted & because this event can only be held outdoors, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule,” Tesla said in a post on X.

Roadster Reveal Has Faced Repeated Delays

The second-generation Roadster has been delayed several times since Tesla first showed the concept in 2017 alongside the Tesla Semi. The vehicle was originally presented as a new electric supercar designed largely from the ground up.

Tesla previously collected $50,000 deposits from prospective buyers, while some customers paid $250,000 to reserve one of 1,000 planned Founders Series vehicles. The estimated base price at the time was around $200,000.

The project later underwent additional redesign work, including plans to incorporate cold gas thrusters derived from SpaceX technology. Elon Musk has said the system could give the Roadster unusual capabilities, including some form of limited flight.

Production Timing Remains Unclear

Tesla has not announced a firm production date for the new Roadster. Musk has said production could begin a year or more after the vehicle is finally revealed.

The October 15 event is expected to provide the clearest look yet at the updated Roadster after years of changing timelines and design plans.
