Google Launches $29 Pixel Tag to Take On Apple’s AirTag

Google is expanding its hardware lineup with the Pixel Tag, a $29 item tracker designed to help Android users locate keys, bags, luggage and other valuables through the company’s Find Hub network.

Unveiled alongside the Pixel 11 family at Made by Google 2026, the Pixel Tag is Google’s first-party answer to Apple’s AirTag. It will go on sale Nov. 11 for $29 individually or $99 for a four-pack.

Google Pixel Tag taps into the Find Hub network

The Pixel Tag connects toGoogle’ss Find Hub, which can use nearby Android devices to help determine the location of a missing item. That gives the tracker access to a crowdsourced network rather than limiting searches to the owner’s phone.

When a tag is nearby, users can trigger its built-in speaker to help locate the attached item. Google also lets users find and ring a Pixel Tag from compatible Pixel Watch models, extending tracking beyond the phone.

Google has equipped the tracker with Ultra Wideband technology for precise finding on compatible devices. It also supports Bluetooth Channel Sounding, which can provide more accurate distance information on supported hardware.

Pixel Tag takes a different design approach from AirTag

Google has opted for a slim, elongated design rather than the circular shape associated with Apple’s tracker. The Pixel Tag measures about 1.1 inches wide and 1.8 inches tall, with a depth of roughly 0.2 inches.

At about 0.4 ounces with its battery installed, it is close to the weight of an AirTag. The Pixel Tag also carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing it to withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes under test conditions.

Power comes from a user-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery. Google says battery life should exceed a year under typical use, eliminating the need to recharge the tracker regularly.

Google builds its own tracker for Android

Android users already have access to third-party trackers that work withGoogle’ss Find Hub network, but Pixel Tag gives Google its own hardware designed around that ecosystem.

The tracker arrives as Google continues expanding Find Hub from a tool for locating Android phones and accessories into a broader network for finding personal belongings. Pixel Tag’s combination of Find Hub connectivity, precise nearby-finding, a replaceable battery, and integration with Pixel devices gives Google direct entry into a category that Apple helped popularise with AirTag.
