OpenClaw Launches Official Apps for Android and iPhone
OpenClaw is now available on Android and iOS with official companion apps that let users manage AI agents, monitor workflows, and approve tasks securely through a self-hosted OpenClaw Gateway.
The automation-focused AI assistant has officially made its way to mobile devices.
OpenClaw, the free and open-source AI agent platform that gained widespread attention earlier this year, is now available as a dedicated application for both Android and iOS users. The company announced the mobile launch on X on Tuesday.
The app on both operating systems connects to the OpenClaw Gateway. This routing layer links user requests to AI agents and the tools and capabilities those agents rely on to complete assigned tasks.
As a result, users can now access and manage their OpenClaw agents directly from their smartphones. When properly configured, these agents can assist with a wide range of activities while users are on the move. Members of the OpenClaw community have already used the platform for everything from software development and coding projects to organising meal plans. However, some users have also reported mixed results depending on how their agents were configured.
OpenClaw first captured widespread interest earlier this year following the debut of MoltBook, a social networking platform presented as populated almost entirely by AI agents. In February, OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger also announced that he had joined OpenAI.
Researchers later revealed that the MoltBook experiment was not entirely powered by AI agents, with some of the activity instead generated by humans impersonating automated agents. The campaign ultimately served as a marketing effort for OpenClaw, even though it also raised questions about its credibility. Even so, the demonstration highlighted the growing potential of AI agents, a trend that has continued to expand rapidly. Today, agent-based AI systems are becoming increasingly common across the industry and are appearing in more places than ever before, including directly on users’ smartphones.
