A new social media platform called Twitter.now is entering testing with a focus on AI-powered content verification and user-controlled feeds. The platform is being developed by startup Operation Bluebird, whose founding team includes former Twitter trademark counsel Stephen Coates.

The launch comes after a legal dispute with X over the use of the Twitter name. X sued Operation Bluebird and asked a Delaware court to block the company from launching a platform using the Twitter brand. The company argued that X had abandoned certain trademarks connected to “Twitter” and “Tweet.” Ars Technica reported on the legal challenge.

Operation Bluebird said Twitter.now is not intended to recreate the original Twitter platform. Instead, the company said it wants to build a social network focused on trust, transparency, and giving users more control over what appears in their feeds.

Twitter.now uses AI to score post credibility

The platform’s main feature is an AI system called VERA, which analyses posts, evaluates claims, provides context, identifies sources, and assigns trust scores to content.

Users will eventually be able to set their preferred trust threshold, allowing them to filter posts based on the level of credibility they want. Operation Bluebird said the current version of VERA is an early release, with expanded capabilities planned for future updates.

The company said that future versions of VERA will allow users to see only posts above a selected trust-score threshold. The platform is currently available through an early access program priced at $20.

Social media moderation remains a major challenge

Twitter.now enters a competitive social media environment where platforms continue to struggle with content moderation, misinformation, and balancing different user expectations.

Operation Bluebird is positioning AI verification as a way to address some of those challenges by providing additional context for posts rather than relying solely on traditional moderation systems.

However, the effectiveness of AI-based trust systems will depend on how accurately they evaluate claims and how users respond to automated assessments of online content.

For now, Twitter.now remains in the testing phase as Operation Bluebird develops its approach to AI-assisted moderation and user-controlled social feeds.

The company has also shared information about its trademark position through a filing related to the dispute with X, which is available in the public trademark documents.
