Apple Unveils $149 HomePod Mini 2 With S10 Chip and Future Siri AI Support

Apple has introduced the HomePod mini 2, a $149 smart speaker with an upgraded S10 chip, improved audio processing, and support for its new Siri AI assistant. The device arrives six years after the original HomePod mini, with a $50 price increase and several new entertainment and smart home features.

Announced alongside Apple’s HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 is available for preorder, with sales beginning October 30. Siri AI will arrive through a future software update, although Apple has not announced a release date.

HomePod Mini 2 Adds S10 Chip and Siri AI

The new S10 chip powers computational audio improvements designed to optimise dynamic range, loudness and acoustic performance. Apple says the upgraded hardware improves how the speaker processes sound.

Once Siri AI becomes available, users will be able to hold multi-turn conversations with the assistant. Apple has not specified when the feature will reach HomePod mini 2.

The speaker supports voice-controlled smart home functions, including managing lights, thermostats and other connected accessories. Its Sound Recognition feature can also detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and send notifications to users’ phones.

Four-Speaker Audio and New Sound Glow Feature

Apple has expanded HomePod mini 2’s compatibility with its other devices. Users can create a four-speaker surround sound system with the new Apple TV 4K, while the speaker can also serve as a Mac’s default audio output for music and video calls.

The new Sound Glow feature turns the speaker’s illuminated top into a visual display that pulses with music. Its colours reflect album artwork, while optional soundscapes such as rain and ocean waves trigger corresponding lighting animations. The

HomePod mini 2 comes in pink, green, blue, white,e and midnight. Customers can preorder the $149 speaker through Apple’s online store, with availability beginning October 30, 2026.
