A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing controversy surrounding Delve, as the anonymous whistleblower behind earlier allegations has resurfaced with additional claims and supposed evidence.

Just a day after Delve's founder and CEO, Karun Kaushik, publicly rejected accusations that the company fabricated compliance-related data for its customers, the anonymous figure known online as "DeepDelver" issued another statement. In this latest response, the whistleblower stood by the original allegations and shared what they described as supporting material, including a video and internal Slack conversations.

DeepDelver also indicated that more disclosures could follow, suggesting that the situation may continue to unfold in the coming days.

Delve focuses on automating the processes required to obtain security certifications and demonstrate compliance with regulations such as GDPR. The startup, which emerged from Y Combinator in 2023, was founded by a team of MIT dropouts and has quickly attracted investor attention. It raised a $3 million seed round, followed by a $32 million Series A last summer, led by Insight Partners.

The controversy comes amid broader scepticism in the tech industry about the real-world value of compliance certifications and audits. Critics often argue that such certifications do not necessarily guarantee strong security or protection against cyber incidents.

That debate gained further attention recently when LiteLLM, a well-known open-source project and Delve customer, experienced a widely discussed security issue after its codebase was compromised by malware. Notably, LiteLLM had obtained two security certifications through Delve before the incident. As the discussion around compliance practices intensifies, the whistleblower's latest claims are likely to put pressure on Delve to address the allegations in greater detail. At the same time, the wider tech community continues to debate the effectiveness of current certification systems.
