Spotify has officially begun rolling out its Reserved ticketing feature, giving selected superfans early access to concert tickets before they become available to the general public.

At launch, the feature is available only for artists performing at Live Nation events, with all ticket purchases handled through Ticketmaster. Spotify said it plans to expand the program over time by adding partners, including smaller venues, and by supporting international users.

Reserved is designed to reward genuine music fans at a time when highly anticipated concert tickets are frequently snapped up by automated bots and scalpers, who later resell them at inflated prices after events sell out.

For Spotify, the initiative also provides an additional incentive for users to remain active on the platform and subscribe to its premium services. By rewarding loyal listeners with exclusive ticket opportunities, the company hopes fans will continue streaming their favourite artists and engaging more frequently with the app.

Spotify first introduced its superfan strategy in May, explaining that it would evaluate a combination of user signals—including streams, shares, and overall engagement—to determine who qualifies as a true fan. The company also said it has implemented safeguards to prevent users from artificially boosting their activity through bots or AI-powered automation.

In practice, simply leaving an artist’s music playing on repeat will not improve a user’s chances of receiving Reserved ticket access. Spotify says it looks for normal listening habits and genuine interaction with the platform rather than passive streaming. As the company explains, “leaving music on in the background won’t give anyone a leg up.”

The Reserved system also considers a user’s location before extending an invitation, ensuring that fans are reasonably close to the concert venue.

When the feature becomes available, eligible users will receive a personalised offer directly on their Spotify Home screen. They can view upcoming tour dates, see the Reserved ticket window, and set reminders before sales begin. Once the Reserved sales period opens—typically lasting around 24 hours—eligible fans can purchase up to two tickets before they are released to the general public.

Spotify also noted that demand is expected to exceed the number of Reserved tickets available. As a result, not every qualifying fan will receive an invitation for every concert.

Singer-songwriter Role Model will become the first artist to participate in the expanded Reserved rollout across 17 U.S. tour dates, with Spotify confirming that additional artists will join the program in the coming weeks. However, their names have not yet been announced.

The Reserved initiative joins Spotify’s growing collection of live music features, including its recently introduced beta tool that allows artists to upload live performance videos alongside their existing music video content, further strengthening the platform’s focus on artist engagement and fan experiences.
