Apple is reportedly cooking up a trio of AI wearables
Apple is reportedly developing three new AI-powered wearable devices, expanding its push into artificial intelligence hardware beyond the iPhone and Apple Watch.
Late last month, The Information reported that Apple was developing an AI wearable — an AirTag-sized pendant with cameras that could be pinned to a user’s shirt. Now Bloomberg says work on that device — along with two other AI-enabled products — is moving faster as Apple tries to keep pace with rivals racing to ship similar hardware.
Beyond the AI pin, Apple is also accelerating development of its upcoming AI-powered smart glasses, which the report says are code-named N50. Apple has plenty of competition here: companies including Meta (often viewed as the current leader in smart glasses) and Snap (which plans to release its “Specs” later this year) are also building products in the same category.
Apple’s new smart glasses, which are said to feature a high-resolution camera, could reach the market sooner than previously expected. Bloomberg reports that Apple is “targeting the start of production as early as December, ahead of a public release in 2027.”
In addition, Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing AirPods with new AI features.
All three products are expected to be designed to connect tightly with the iPhone and to rely on Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, as a core part of the experience, the outlet notes. The glasses, in particular, are being characterised as “more upscale and feature-rich” than the AirPods and the AI pendant.
