AI coding startup Cursor is officially part of SpaceX after the companies completed a $60 billion acquisition, bringing the developer platform into Elon Musk’s expanding AI business.

Cursor confirmed the deal had closed on its website. The acquisition follows an April agreement that initially focused on joint technology development and gave SpaceX an option to acquire the company.

Cursor joins SpaceX

Cursor, developed by Anysphere, provides AI-powered tools that help developers write, understand and modify software. The company said joining SpaceX will give it access to significantly greater computing infrastructure.

Cursor highlighted SpaceX’s GPU capacity as a major benefit of the deal, saying it will gain access to what it described as the world’s largest GPU fleet.

"SpaceX is building the computing capacity needed to scale intelligence far beyond what exists today," Cursor said. "Cursor will be one place where that intelligence becomes useful."

SpaceX expands its AI business

The acquisition further expandsSpaceX’ss artificial intelligence operations following its earlier acquisition of Musk’s xAI. It also connects Cursor with the large-scale computing infrastructure SpaceX has been developing.

The completed deal ends Cursor’s run as an independent AI startup and combines its coding platform with SpaceX’s growing AI and computing operations.
