Meta is expanding Meta AI on the desktop with a new Mac app that adds system-wide dictation, screen-aware assistance and business-focused tools.

The app lets users dictate text across Mac applications, not just in Meta AI. It can also analyse what is currently visible on the screen and answer questions using that context through Meta’s Muse Spark model.

Meta AI can work across Mac apps

The dictation feature puts Meta AI alongside tools such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper and Monologue. Google recently made a similar move by adding system-wide dictation to the Gemini app for Mac.

The screen-context feature allows users to ask questions about information already displayed on their Mac, making the assistant more useful across everyday workflows.

New tools target business users

Meta is also letting merchants connect Facebook and Instagram accounts, Meta ad campaigns, and Google Workspace services, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Business owners can ask Meta AI about campaign performance and audience engagement, identify better-performing posts and access competitor information based on public data. The assistant can also help create proposal decks, documents and spreadsheets.

Meta has been steadily expanding AI tools for businesses across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. During the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Meta sees a major opportunity to sell AI agents that can automate work for businesses.

The new Mac app extends that strategy by combining voice input, screen awareness and connected business tools in a single desktop assistant.
