ChatGPT Mobile App Gets Voice-Based Agentic Features

OpenAI is adding more agentic capabilities to the ChatGPT mobile app, letting users complete tasks through voice interactions and access AI-powered workflows on their phones.

The update expands ChatGPT’s ability to handle tasks such as creating documents, drafting emails, summarising messages, building websites, and creating presentations.

Voice Features Expand on Mobile

ChatGPT voice conversations will now include richer text output, and users can switch between voice and text more easily. OpenAI also says users can start a task on mobile and continue the same conversation on desktop.

Plus and Pro subscribers can use the Work tab on mobile to create documents, draft emails, summarise Slack messages, and access other productivity features. Free and Go users will continue to use plugins and connected apps.

OpenAI Brings Agentic Workflows to Phones

The mobile rollout follows OpenAI’s earlier expansion of voice-based workflows on desktop, where users can complete tasks through conversational interactions.

Other AI companies are also improving mobile and desktop connections, but OpenAI continues to keep chat conversations and dedicated workspaces separate.

The update reflects a broader shift toward AI assistants that can complete multi-step tasks rather than only respond to individual requests.
